(July 18) Ages 7-10: Blue Groups A-B

In art - Today was our last day of art for Session 1! All students finished any incomplete projects, filled out a Week 2 Review Sheet, and had the opportunity to begin working in the Coloring Book they made yesterday as a class. We had a great time learning about how to use art as a gift, and the students are very excited to finally bring home their Art Folder portfolios full of beautiful projects! Mr. Tim, Miss Cher and Miss Faye all hope you have a fantastic and keep making art on your own at home!

In Games & Movement for the last day of session one, the students requested to play the all-time favorite, 'doctor-dodge ball'. We played girls against boys, teachers against students, and free-for-all death match. By the end of class all students and teachers were exhausted!

Typhoon information

Good morning families of ICS Summer Fun Camp,

At 7:00 am this morning, the typhoon signal 3 flag was still in effect.  This means that 4 year olds do not come to school.  The 5-6 year (LE) and 7-10 year (UE) programs will run as normal.  However, please consider your own safety and the safety of your children when you make the decision to attend the final day of session one today.

Just to clarify - all students in the Red, Yellow, Green, Blue, and Purple groups will still have classes.

Classes for Apple, Grape, Banana, Blueberry, and Orange are cancelled.

Typhoon T3

Good morning parents and students,

At 7 a.m this morning, Super Typhoon Rammasun was estimated to be about 410 kilometres south-southwest of Hong Kong. What does this mean for you?

4 Year Old Programme:
The T3 signal is up so if you are a parent of a 4 year old or have a child in the 4 year old programme, your classes are cancelled. Do not bring you child to ICS.

5 Year Old and 7-10 Year Old Programme:
If you are a parent of a 5 year old or a 7-10 year old, their classes will still run today, so you are welcome to bring your child to ICS and enjoy the last day of Session One.

Have a good day,
Reuel Prasad

Typhoon on the Way

Greetings Summer Fun Camp students and families -

The first session is nearly over, and it just seemed to go really fast!

Checking the weather, we are aware that a typhoon is on the way, and it is currently a T1.  While it would be a shame to miss our last day of the session due to weather, please make sure you are familiar with our policies.
Here is a reminder of the procedures for inclement weather.

Typhoon 1 or Amber Rain::  all classes continue as normal

Typhoon 3 or Red Rain::  Classes for 3& 4 year olds (K1 & K2) cancelled.
Classes for 5-10 year olds (LE & UE) continue as normal

Typhoon 8, Typhoon 10, Black Rain::  If these signals are in effect at 7 am, all morning classes are   cancelled.  If these signals are in effect at 11 am, all afternoon classes are cancelled.

Please be reminded that if we do miss class tomorrow because of the weather, there will not be a make up day, as we will be using the weekend to prepare for session two.

If you are unsure, please check this blog tomorrow morning, and we will post an update.

Regards,

Chris Meyer,
Director of Session One

(July 17) Ages 5-6: Yellow Groups A-E

We wrapped up our last book in Drama today by reviewing the definition of sequence and why it's important when one is telling a story. We were happy to hear several students were able to use their little books to retell "If You Give a Moose a Muffin" to their families. We also taught sequence by having a scavenger hunt. The students were able to follow the clues in sequence - great job!

Today in Games & Movement for yellow A, B, and C and red D & E:  we had a reflection/response on Jesus returning and our relationship to Him. This was followed by “knight-rider-princess”, and then a thrilling dodgeball match. The Day 9 Theme for red A, B, & C and yellow D & E: God wants us to be thankfulWe discussed with children what they are thankful for and asked them how they can show what they are thankful for.
Activity: game "Prisoners of War".

In art class today, children in Red D, E, Yellow A, B and C completed their paper cup puppets and acted out a short skit with them. Some were animals; some were aliens and some were fairies. They all had fun!
Meanwhile,  Red A, B, and C  started on their paper cup puppets by cutting out shapes with colored paper and gluing them on to their paper cup.  Yellow D and E will be assembling their muffins together by cutting out shapes from the textured paper they painted the day before.

In music class today, we reviewed all our songs and then learned a new song, “This is the Day”. We also reviewed the solfege and musical notes we learned last week. Then, we learned how to play Musical Pictionary.

(July 17) Ages 7-10: Purple Group A

In music class Thursday we learned a song about family fun and we reviewed the songs we have learned.  We have been learning songs by Patch the Pirate about Christian character including Gratitude Attitude, Zip Your Lip, and Family Fun. We also have been talking about Jesus' love and how He wants to rescue us from our sins. Mr. Leung has also been teaching the children how to conduct and the creation of film music. The children had opportunities to use some professional music hardware and software to experience new technologies like music sampling and autotuning.
Friday we will have a concert with all songs learned and will also hear from Mr. Elliot Leung, who is an accomplished musician.

Today in games and movements ( 7-10 ) the students played basketball. The first half of the class we did some relay races with basketballs. Then the second half of the class the students were put into 2 teams and they played a match against each other.

In art class today we are drawing! All classes began our final project together. To finish our week about learning how to use art as a gift, each student drew their own page in a coloring book. We will reproduce the books so that each student will take one home tomorrow, full of fantastic drawings by their classmates.

In adventure activities today,  the theme was paper. We played games including a paper airplane distance contest  and another game called 'clear the land'

Today in Drama, we had some classes put on their original mini-plays, while other classes did a new exercise: acting out the parts of a story that is being told. Lots of laughs.
